Privacy Policy
How we handle your data.
Effective 20 April 2026. This policy describes what information Lynote collects when you use the service, how that information is used, and the rights you have over your data. If you have questions, contact us at the address in the final section.
Information we collect
Anonymous use. When you use the tool without signing in, we record your IP address solely to enforce the daily free usage limit. No other personal information is collected during anonymous use.
Account sign-in. When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and display name from Google OAuth and store them with your account record.
Study notes. When you generate a study note, we store the source reference (video URL or PDF filename), the extracted content, and the AI-generated output. For signed-in users this is linked to your account; for anonymous users it is linked only to the IP address used at the time.
Payments. Payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We store only the Stripe Payment Intent ID, the token pack purchased, and the amount paid. We never receive or store card numbers or banking details.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect only for the following purposes:
- Generating and saving your study notes
- Enforcing the daily free usage limit by IP address
- Tracking your purchased token balance and usage history
- Authenticating your account and maintaining your login session
- Processing token purchases and recording payment history
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising or marketing purposes.
Third-party processors
We use the following third-party services to operate Lynote. Each processes data only as necessary to provide their part of the service.
Supabase
Account records, study notes, usage logs, and purchase history are stored in a Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL database. Supabase operates under GDPR-compliant data processing agreements.
Stripe
Token purchases are processed by Stripe, Inc. Your payment details are collected and held by Stripe under their own Privacy Policy. We receive only a payment confirmation identifier and the amount paid.
OpenAI
Video transcript text is sent to OpenAI's API to generate study notes. Under OpenAI's API usage policy, data submitted via the API is not used to train their models.
Data retention
Archived study notes are permanently deleted 30 days after the archive date.
Your account data — including study notes, purchase history, and usage records — is retained for as long as your account is active.
You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us. We will complete deletion within 30 days of receiving the request.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correction — request correction of inaccurate data
- Deletion — request removal of your account and personal data
- Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format
